Roger Rakotomalala, an exchange student who spent the 1964 – 1965 school year at Morris High School, attended the class of 1965’s 50 year reunion last weekend thanks to the donations of fellow classmates. Rakotomalala was part of the Homecoming parade on Friday, Sept. 25 along with Mary Sue (Rudnicki) Swanby, class of 1965 Homecoming Queen, and driver Dave Freese.

Morris resident Mike Vandenberg will go where he needs to go to get a shot of rare trains, like this one taken as a train drove over the Pomme de Terre River near Barrett. His knowledge of trains helped him recognized a potentially dangerous situation in Morris this summer and convinced him to alert railway authorities. He was recognized last week by the Association of Minnesota Emergency managers for his actions. (Mike Vandenberg)
