The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta volleyball team is dedicating it’s rivalry game against Minnewaska on Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Tom Hesse (second from left), who announces the games. Hesse was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2014. All fans are encouraged to where purple in honor of Hesse. Morris resident Mike Vandenberg will go where he needs to go to get a shot of rare trains, like this one taken as a train drove over the Pomme de Terre River near Barrett. His knowledge of trains helped him recognized a potentially dangerous situation in Morris this summer and convinced him to alert railway authorities. He was recognized last week by the Association of Minnesota Emergency managers for his actions. (Mike Vandenberg)
