463 new freshmen arrive at UMM
MORRIS, Minn. -- On Sunday, Aug. 25, more than 460 new freshman arrived at the University of Minnesota, Morris for move in day. Older students helped carry the many bags, boxes and appliances the new freshmen brought with them.
Chancellor Jacquie Johnson also moved a few boxes before taking time to talk with new families.
UMM's projected enrollment for the 2013 - 2014 school year is about 1,840 students.
Approximately 80 percent are from Minnesota. Another 10 percent are international students, and 24 percent are students of color.
Morris's 176 international students hail from 15 countries, including Russia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and more. The majority of these students (145) are from China, and 120 have completed a year of study at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE).
Preliminary enrollment numbers are projections based on existing data and historical trends. Official numbers will be determined after the tenth day of class.
