Amanda Murphy among 15 contestants in running for Miss Minnesota crown
Miss Midwest Amanda Murphy is anxious to know which of the 15 contestants will be Miss Minnesota 2007. And she says she's prepared to win or lose when the selection is announced Saturday night.
Murphy is in the thick of the activities held prior to the Miss Minnesota program, including touring the Capitol building, going to a Twins game, participating in a golf tournament and practicing the Miss Minnesota production number.
To prepare for Miss Minnesota, Murphy has had mock interviews with several Morris community members critiquing her performance. She also has made numerous appearances to speak on her platform isssue, "America's Troops: In Need of Our Support Today."
For the talent competition at the pageant, Murphy says, "I'll really be showcasing two talents. I'll be performing a trumpet solo, 'Haydn's Trumpet Concerto,' while wearing a gown that I designed."
Murphy just finished her junior year at the University of Minnesota, Morris, where she is working towards a degree in Financial Management. Murphy came to UMM from Glencoe. She has worked with the Stevens County 4-H and is currently a server/manager at the Pizza Hut in Morris.
The finals of the Miss Minnesota program will be held Saturday at the Eden Prairie High School Performing Arts Center.
