Area Student Accomplishments

Dylan Curfman, son of Larry and Veronica Curfman of Morris, has been selected to receive a Leadership and College Now Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their academic accomplishments and outstanding leadership abilities. His planned major field of study is speech communication-radio and TV and public relations.

Minnesota State University Moorhead will award degrees to more than 400 students during its fall commencement program Thursday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. in MSUM's Nemzek Fieldhouse. About 300 students are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Students expected to graduate with the following degrees: Jon Hesse of Morris with a BA in anthropology; Shelby Hoyer of Morris with an AA in liberal arts; Kelly Ritter of Chokio with a BA in sociology.
