Area Weather: All in all, it's been a normal spring
I know some people have complained to me that we haven't had much of a spring.
Recently we have had some cooler than average days and cloudy conditions, but all in all it really has been a pretty "normal" May and early June.
We added some additional rain Thursday night into Friday across the state. As we all know, June is an active month for weather. So far, it has been a quieter spring than normal for severe weather and that is OK with me.
In 2001 severe weather was reported over central and west Minnesota. An unofficial wind gust of 119 mph was reported at a seed farm one mile northwest of Atwater.
The windiest place on earth is Commonwealth Bay, Antarctica, where winds of 200 mph have been recorded!
