Area Weather: Cold, dry pattern beginning to break, thankfully

What a great weekend we had this past weekend! We finally had a taste of summer. Saturday, we warmed-up into the upper 70s and lower 80s across most of the area.

A few isolated showers popped-up in the afternoon heat. Alexandria received only .02" of rain, Morris reported no rain on Saturday, and St. Cloud reported .03" of rain.

By Sunday, highs warmed-up into the low to mid 80s across the area. Morris hit 82 degrees for a high. I know many of you were outdoors enjoying the nice weekend!

Meanwhile, we started off this week on a mixed note. Some areas saw highs only in the 70s, but other areas warmed-up into the low 80s. Showers and thunderstorms moved-in by Monday night into Tuesday.

It is good to see that we are finally breaking that cold and dry weather pattern. It looks like a repeat of last weekend for this coming weekend for the first day of summer and for Father's Day. By the way, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there--including my own dad Cliff in Willmar. Fathers, as all of us know, are an important part of our lives!

They bring wisdom, love, and an occasional stern look...that's all I needed to know that he meant business and to keep me on the straight and narrow! We salute you dads!
