"Less Humid" - no that is not the name of some fictitious TV meteorologist, but what we should be finally experiencing after all of the heat and humidity.

A cool front will push across the Midwest and give us a break from some of the nearly unbearable humidity that has plagued us recently. It really hasn't been fun the last few weeks to even be outdoors and enjoy our Minnesota summer.

On Wednesday, for example, the daytime high in Morris was 86 degrees, but the dew point was at nearly 72 degrees at 11 a.m. That made it feel more like 95 degrees. Parts of the state were in the upper 90s for highs, and friends in Iowa were complaining about temperatures of 103 degrees. A friend of mine played "Let it Snow" to try to cool off himself and his listeners on the radio!

The heat and humidity did help to spark some showers and thunderstorms in the area on Wednesday. We picked up nearly 1.50" of rainfall at our house on the northwest side of Alexandria. Morris, however, received .29" of rainfall.

Temperatures will remain near average for the weekend. There could be a couple of passing showers or thunderstorms late in the evening. I don't think it should spoil much of our outdoor plans!

Speaking of that, I hope you don't mind if I invite everyone out to Bug-A-Boo-Bay in Alexandria this Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the patio as I will be singing and playing guitar. I would love to visit with you and talk some weather as well between songs!

TODAY

Increasing cloudiness will lead to a 20% change of showers and thunderstorms late in the day. Expect a high of 84, a low of 66, and winds from the E/SE at 5 to 15 mph and between a trace and .20" of precipitation. High pressure will build across the state on Friday and a northwesterly flow will pull-in some much needed cooler and more comfortable air. It will be short lived, however, as small rain chances will return late Saturday.
