We had a string of nice days the past few days with comfortable temperatures and fairly low dew points and humidity levels. Highs on Friday were in the low to mid 80s across most of Minnesota. Morris had a high of 83 degrees on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday, we also had great weather with lots of sunshine and low dew points. Morris on Wednesday had a high of 82 degrees. By Thursday that reading had climbed to 84 degrees after a morning low of 62. Many of us were able to open our windows at night and enjoy some of nature's air conditioning this week.
With another weekend upon us, rain chances are back in the forecast. A stationary front impacted portions of northern Minnesota on Friday and brought some scattered showers to northwestern and north central Minnesota. The real weather feature that will impact Minnesota is a trough of low pressure that will come out of North Dakota and will bring showers and thunderstorms late Friday night into Saturday. The heaviest rain and the strongest storms look like they will impact northern Minnesota. Central and west central Minnesota could see a .25" to .50" of rainfall. However, imbedded within thunderstorms heavier amounts could fall.
Drier and cooler air will return by Sunday. There is a chance of some lingering rain early Sunday morning, but I think most of that will move off into central and east central Minnesota by Sunday morning. Highs on Sunday will reach only the low to mid 70s. Cooler air will settle-in for much of next week as well with highs in the low to mid 70s very common.
Have a great weekend!
