I hope all the dads had a good weekend. Saturday was a picture perfect day with lots of sunshine and highs in the 80s for the final day of spring. Some heavy rain fell across the region on Sunday for the first day of summer.

Morris areas received .51" of rain on Sunday. Alexandria received 1.05" of rain at the airport. Meanwhile, Elbow Lake picked-up .78" of rain, Long Prairie received .22" of rain, and St. Cloud received .65" on Sunday. Some areas have received well over 4" of rain for the month. In Wilkin County, some locations received 7" in one 24 hour period alone.

Look for more rain this week as our very warm and active weather pattern will hang around for this week. Highs will continue into the mid to upper 80s with some 90s very possible. Heat indices will climb to near 95 degrees with high humidity levels. With warm and moist air there is a chance of additional severe weather this week.

Keep an eye to the sky and stay informed by watching for the latest severe weather alerts. The severe weather season started off quiet, but it certainly has picked-up lately. Have a great and safe week!

Weather fact: In 1917 a F4 tornado in Connecticut picked up a jar of pickles and dropped it, unbroken, in a ditch 25 miles away.

This day in weather history: 2002: Heavy rains fell on already saturated ground on June 24. 5.50 inches fell at Delano. Half of a mobile home park at Howard Lake was evacuated due to rising water.
