Area Weather: A look back on a very nice September in the area
The month of September has come and gone and it is time to look back at the month. It really was a nice month. We could have used some more rain, however. Only 1.13" of rain fell during the month. That is a departure of 1.50" from normal. The greatest amount of rain in a 24 hour period was on Sept. 11, when .52" of rain fell.
Meanwhile, the warmest day for the month took place on Sept. 19 when we hit 82 degrees. We had temperatures from the 17th to the 19th in the lower 80s. It hit 81 degrees for a high on the 17th and 18th and then 82 degrees on the 19th.
Our coldest temperature recorded for the month was on Sept. 29, when we had a morning low of 39 degrees. Our average temperature for the month was 64.4 degrees. That was a few degrees above average.
Looking ahead, we are going to start off the month of October on a cool and wet note. On Thursday 1.50" of rain fell on Morris. We really needed that rain! The 30 day outlook calls for near "normal" temperatures and above normal precipitation. Have a great weekend!
WEATHER HISTORY
In 1953 a record high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit for the St. Cloud area was recorded. Minneapolis also set a record that same day in 1953 with a high of 89 degrees!
WEATHER FACT
Rain contains vitamin B12, however, I wouldn't recommend drinking it. It often times picks up pollutants in the atmosphere as it falls!
