Area Weather: Temps may stay in 50s

We had a nice Saturday as temperatures warmed-up across the area. I hope you had a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the warm temperatures.

Highs in the area were in the low to mid 70s with plenty of sunshine. The clouds thickened, however, on Sunday ahead of our next weather disturbance. We did see some rain developing late in the day on Sunday. Alexandria received .03" of rain on Sunday with a high of 63. By Monday, some light rain fell across the state as well. Elbow Lake had a high on Monday of only 50 degrees. Morris and Long Prairie were only in the lowers 50s for highs, s well. A wind advisory was also posted for the area making it feel even colder. The sky cleared Monday night and that allowed the temperatures to fall overnight. Our first frost advisory was posted for Tuesday morning for the area. Reality has set-in, snow and winter can't be far behind....

In 1985 four inches of snow fell in Ely. In addition, a trace of snow was also reported in the Twin Cities.
