Avoid tickets and towing by brushing up on city's snow alert parking rules

Hopefully it's knowledge you won't have to put into action too soon, but the City of Morris is reminding residents of snow alert parking rules for the winter months.

Snow alerts are announced by 5 p.m. on these area Web sites, radio and TV stations:

• Morris Sun Tribune Web site at www.morrissuntribune.com

• KMRS 1230 AM and KKOK 95.7 FM, in Morris

• KUMM 89.7 FM, in Morris

• The City of Morris Web site at www.ci.morris.mn.us/pd/snowalert.shtml

• KQIC 102.5 FM, in Willmar

• KCLD 104.7 FM, in St. Cloud

• Call City Hall at (320) 589-3141.

The city also hopes residents take these snow season tips to heart:

• Be kind to pedestrians and please shovel your sidewalks.

• Landlords should arrange for sidewalk snow removal at their rental properties.

• Do not shovel snow onto city roads and streets, thus creating a traffic hazard.

• Avoid piling up snow on boulevards and around fire hydrants.
