Benson School Board to decide Monson's fate at meeting Saturday
The Benson School Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to offer the district superintendent job to one of three finalists for the position, according to interim superintendent Shelly Johnson.
Morris Area Superintendent Scott Monson is a finalist for the job. Monson was Benson High School principal prior to taking the Morris Area job in 2004.
The board will meet in the school library on Saturday. The action was taken at the board's regular meeting Tuesday.
Board members spent Monday and Tuesday at the school locations of the three candidates. On Monday, they visited Minneota, the current school of candidate John Kraker, and Morris Area. On Tuesday, the board visited Benson High School, whose current principal, Lee Westrum, is a candidate for the superintendent's spot.
The new superintendent will begin work for the district on July 1.
Johnson is serving as interim superintendent until June 30. The district is seeking a permanent superintendent after Carl Remmers resigned to become the superintendent of the Cass Lake-Bena School District on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation.
