Bookends
It's been a long, hard winter; the rain and sunshine are most welcome. To honor the season, our gardening books are on display.
Traditionally (since 1958), the second week of April has been designated National Library Week by the American Library Association to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians. Help us celebrate this year by visiting the library April 12-17 and drop off a couple of cans of food for the food shelf. The library will forgive your fines that week for Morris books, in exchange for canned goods. In addition, each day we will pose a question to be answered. If you answer the question, your name will be put in that day's drawing for a canvas library book bag.
Spring Author Event - Evelyn Hadden, gardener extraordinaire from the Twin Cities, will be at the library Wednesday, April 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to discuss her book, Shrink Your Lawn. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Morris Public Library and the Pomme de Terre Garden Club.
The Friends of the Morris Public Library have arranged for a third Writer's Workshop. This one will focus on fiction writing and creating engaging characters. The two-part class will be taught by UMM English instructor, Chrissy Kolaya, on Thursday, April 15 and April 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the library. Class size is limited; please sign up at the library, if interested.
There has been a request for a book talk group at the library. If you are interested in forming a book group, let me know and we will make it happen.
