On Thursday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. we are delighted to welcome Mary Lethert Wingerd, Minnesota historian, author and book award winner for North Country: The making of Minnesota. She will give a talk on, "The Hidden History of Minnesota." Refreshments will be served. This project was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and is sponsored by the Morris Public Library, Viking Library System, and the Friends of the Morris Public Library. What a fun lead-in for Prairie Pioneer Days. Join us if you can.
The Friends of the Library are preparing for their annual book sale, Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14, during Prairie Pioneer Days. This year we will have extended hours, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit collections, programming or activities of the library.
Summer Reading Programs continue throughout July. Children's movies will be shown on Friday, July 6 and Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m. Call for details, 320-589-1634. The Friends of the Library are sponsoring juggler/storyteller, Randy Christensen on Thursday, July 19 at 10:15 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. New this year, is a Mother Goose story time on Tuesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. It is a "pajamarama," so kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal and blanket.
The library display case for July features a collection of Pillsbury Doughboy figures that Vicky Dosdall has collected over the years.
