This is the time of year to review our accomplishments and to think about goals for the future. Library statistics will be compiled in the coming months, but following is a quick overview of programs and events.

Friends: Writer's Workshop event, sponsored Summer Reading entertainer and magician, Randy Christenson, sponsored Friday Flicks with juice and popcorn; they had another successful annual book sale and created a year-round book sale cart.

Grants: e-Readers purchased, IEEE Science Kits, Spanish Language books collection.

Other programs and miscellaneous: Movie license renewed which allows us to host Friday Flicks, participated in the Prairie Gate Literary Festival (graphic artist team). Dilly of a Day tour for decision-makers, online catalog upgrade and broadband increase for computer use, Home Delivery outreach program to the homebound.

Thank you to our many volunteers: UMM students Amelia Birkholz, Ryan Rantanen, Jennifer Riestenberg, and Lindsay Scott; Anthony Fetz, Minette Johnson, Ardath Larson, Judy Oldenburg, and Raelene Reimers. We couldn't succeed without you.

On a sad note, we bid farewell to Lisa Anderson who took a job in Cambridge, Minn.

Our New Year's resolution and goal is to get the library foundation up and running. There is a general meeting, Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the library if you wish to learn more. And, if all goes as planned, we will install new carpeting in the meeting room and put in a new floor in the staff area.

The library will close early on Monday, Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. and is closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

On behalf of the Morris staff, we wish you a healthy and happy New Year!

Mary Ann, Roxane, Sharon, Tammy, and Melissa
