Boys basketball: Tigers outlast ACGC

MORRIS — Neither team shot well from the floor but Morris/Chokio-Alberta sank 24 of 27 at the free-throw line (89 percent) to beat Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 64-57 on Tuesday.

The Tigers overall record leaped to 12-2.

Logan Manska, who was 1 of 11 from the field, thrived at the stripe going 10-for-10;  Austin Dierks, who had 14 points, went 6-for-6 at the line.

Tigers trailed by 6 with four minutes to go.

Nic Vipond, who scored 19 points, had a three-point play and then the Tigers tied it 55-all with 2:00 to go on his second three of the game, his only points.

Free throws helped the Tigers pull away down the stretch.

Tyler Larson led ACGC with 22 points. Dylan Hoerchler produced 16 points and 4 steals. Jacob Belgum chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds.
