Boys wrap up regular season
The Morris Area boys' golf team finished the regular season at Benson, before participating in the Section 6AA meet May 22.
Tyler Meichsner and Corey O'Keefe advanced to the second day of the section meet and golfed Tuesday at St. Cloud.
On May 15 the Tigers took part in final West Central Conference South meet of the season in Benson.
The Tigers finished the meet in seventh place with a 185.
Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg won the meet with a 163. Minnewaska Area came in three strokes back with a 166. Third place went to BOLD with a 173.
For the Tigers O'Keefe carded a 45, while both Meichsner and Jordan Kolden posted 46. Trevor Hopkins' score of 48 rounded out the team total.
Also golfing for Morris Area were Otto Pyrhonen with a 52 and John Nissen with a 57.
Tyler Jensvold of Yellow Medicine East and Ross Benjamin of Benson/KMS tied for medalist honors carding 38s.
Section play started Thursday for the Tigers.
Six of the 16 teams advanced to the second round held Tuesday at Territory Golf Club in St. Cloud.
The Tigers completed the first day with a 360.
Teams advancing include St. Cloud Cathedral with a 306; Pequot Lakes with a 314; Staples-Motley with a 321; Minnewaska Area with a 322; ROCORI with a 328; and Little Falls with a 337.
O'Keefe carded an 86 and Meichsner posted an 87 to advance individually for the Tigers.
The other Morris Area scores making up the team total were Kolden's 90 and Hopkins' 97.
