Head coach, Chad Braegelmann, earned his 100th win Saturday as the University of Minnesota, Morris volleyball team defeated the St. Scholastica Saints in five sets (25-20, 12-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-7) . The Cougars won the first, third, and fifth sets to move to 17-9 on the season and stay undefeated in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
The first set went to the Cougars as they defeated the Saints 25-20. They were led by Emily Auch as she recorded four kills on 10 total attacks. Mandy Allman logged five assists and Kaylie Siekmann had six.
The second set was easily won by the Saints. Abby Tietz led the Cougars with four kills, while Allman recorded six assists. In the end, though, the Saints were too much for the Cougars as they went on to win 25-12.
The third set was a tough match for the Cougars as they barely beat the Saints 25-22. Once again, Tietz and Allman were the key duo as Tietz had six kills off of Allman's seven assists. The Cougars bested the Saints as they had 14 kills compared to their 12.
Once again, the Saints handled the fourth set as they went on to win 25-14 to force a fifth set. The Cougars did not have anyone with more than two kills in this set. Kaylie Clark, however, had 12 digs. Clark recently broke the school record (1,707) in digs last week against Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The fifth and final set went to the Cougars as they beat the Saints 15-7. They jumped out to a quick lead as the score was 10-2 and the Cougars never looked back.
The Cougars were led by Tietz with 15 kills, Allman with 28 assists, and Clark with 34 digs.
The women will return to action Friday against Bethany Lutheran. These two teams met earlier this season when the Cougars defeated the Vikings 3-1.
