Buddies Chippewa League team wins again
Buddies Chippewa League baseball team evened its record at 2-2 with a 5-4 win over Benson Body Shop.
With one out in the sixth inning, Tyler Reese walked and later scored the winning run on Alex Copa's two-out single.
Buddies play on Monday at Minnewaska II. Game time is 6 p.m.
Against Benson Body Shop, Buddies took a 1-0 lead in the first when Michael Milander walked and scored on an overthrow to second.
Benson came back with two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead.
Buddies scored three runs in the third inning. With one out Bryce Schmidgall walked and following another out Andrew Shaw walked to put two runners on. Michael Milander singled to drive in two runs. He later scored on an error.
Benson tied the score 4-4 in the fourth inning and that's the way it remained until the sixth inning.
Collin Brown was Buddies' starting pitcher. He went three innings, giving up two runs on two hits. He walked two and struck out four.
Brett Kellner relieved Brown and pitched two innings, giving up two runs on no hits. He walked four and struck out four. Andrew Shaw came in relief in the sixth. He gave up no hits or runs and walked one.
