Buddies in play-offs

Buddies opened the 2010 playoffs with a 6-3 victory over Benson Case on Wednesday, July 14 in Hancock.
Benson jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Buddies scored a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. With one out Michael Milander walked and Collin Brown followed with a single to drive him in.
The score remained tied until the top of the fourth when Benson took a 2-1 lead. Buddies again rallied with four runs to take a 5-2 lead. With one out Brett Kellner singled, Tyler Reese walked, and Chandler Gramm walked to load the bases. Ryan Ascheman walked to force in the tieing run. Following another out, Sean Cunningham singled to drive in three runs to take the lead.
Buddies stretched their lead to 6-2 in the fifth when with one out Alex Copa singled, Andrew Shaw singled and Michael Milander walked to load the bases. Collin Brown grounded out with Copa scoring.
Benson scored a run in the seventh, but were unable to get any more runs.
Chandler Gramm started on the mound for Buddies and pitched three strong innings. He gave up one run on three hits, walked one and struck out nine. Brett Kellner pitched the fourth inning and gave up one run on one hit and walked two batters. Collin Brown pitched the last three innings for Buddies. He gave up one run on two hits, walked one, hit a batter and struck out nine.
Buddies advance to championship game
In the second round of playoffs, Buddies defeated Minnewaska II 5-4. They jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Andrew Shaw reached on an error. Michael Milander singled and Collin Brown grounded out with Shaw scoring.
Minnewaska took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second, but that lead was short lived. Sean Cunningham lead off the third with a single. Following a strikeout, Cole Voorhees singled to put runners on first and second. Alex Copa singled to drive in Cunningham. Andrew Shaw singled in Voorhees to make the score 3-2.
Minnewaska tied the game in the third, but Buddies again took the lead in the top of the fourth. Tyler Reese led off with a single and Chandler Gramm walked to put runners on first and second. Zach Copa singled to load the bases. Following a strike out, Reese was forced out at home. Bryce Schmidgall singled with Gramm and Copa both scoring, giving Buddies a 5-3 lead.
The score remained that way until the seventh when Minnewaska's rally fell one run short.
Pitching duties were again split three ways. Chandler Gramm started for Buddies and pitched the first three innings. He gave up three runs on three hits, walked two and struck out five. Brett Kellner pitched the next inning and allowed no runs and no hits. Collin Brown pitched the final three innings giving up one run on one hit, walked four and struck out seven.
Buddies advanced to the Chippewa Valley championship game. They faced the winner of the Minnewaska I and Benson Body Shop on July 21.
