Buddies entered the playoffs as the #4 seed and came away with a hard fought 6-5 victory over Hawley's of Benson.
Buddies jumped off to a 1-0 lead in the first when Anthony Koehl and Justin Miller both walked. Following a fielder's choice, Brandon Shaw walked to load the bases. Brett Kellner singled with Justin scoring to make the score 1-0.
Hawley's scored two runs in the second to take a 2-1 lead, but this lead was short-lived as Buddies came back with five runs in the second inning. Will Osterman led off with a single and Kayla Crowell and Cole Voorhees both walked. Following two outs on the bases, Anthony Koehl singled with Kayla scoring. Justin Miller then was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Collin Brown hit a grand slam to make the score 6-2.
Hawley's added on the third and two in the sixth to make the score 6-5.
Pitching for Buddies was Collin Brown, Justin Miller and Anthony Koehl. Collin pitched three innings and gave up three runs on four hits. He struck out eight, walked two and hit one batter. Justin Miller pitched the next three innings. He gave up two runs on seven hits. He struck out three and hit one batter. Anthony Koehl pitched one inning and gave up one hit while striking out two batters.
The second game of the playoffs saw Buddies traveling to Minnewaka to take on Minnewaska II, the top seeded team in the playoffs. Minnewaska defeated Buddies by the score of 13-2.
Buddies jumped off to a 1-0 in the top of the first when with two outs, Collin Brown tripled and scored on a single by Brendan Jensen.
This lead was short-lived when Minnewaska scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-1 lead.
Buddies cut the lead to 4-2 in the fourth when with one out Justin Miller tripled and scored on a double by Collin Brown.
Minnewaska answered with four in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a commanding 13-2 lead that became the final.
Collin Brown started for Buddies and gave up four runs on six hits. He hit one batter, walked three and struck out four. Anthony Koehl pitched the next two innings. He gave up nine runs on seven hits, walked six and struck out two.
Justin Miller pitched the last inning, giving up one hit and striking out three.

The Junior Chippewa team, coached by Randy Reese and Rick Gramm, plays tonight (Thursday) at the Hancock Little League Field. They received a first round bye by finishing with a 6-1 record good for the #2 seed. This team is made up of 3rd and 4th graders.
This will be the final game of the season at the Hancock field with the final games of the playoffs being played in Benson.
