Building destroyed by fire

A Bemidji firefighter straightens his hose while he waits for water pressure as firefighters battle a fire that started at about 5:30 p.m. Friday at El Rancho, an old abandoned building along Fifth Street Northwest. Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp said the building had been vacant for a number of years. The building was a total loss. Crews fought to keep the fire from spreading to surrounding structure.
