The committee is scheduled to hear 8th Judicial District Chief Judge Paul Nelson and Stevens County District Court Judge Gerald Seibel.

Nelson is currently visiting each county board of the 8th district to explain the status of the court's funding and impacts on all aspects of the criminal justice system, as well as civil cases, according to Stevens County Coordinator Jim Thoreen.

Seibel is expected to offer his perspective on the Stevens County District court as it relates to jails.

In addition to the judges, the committee is scheduled to meet with Minnesota Department of Corrections representative Tim Thompson, who will explain the DOC's perspectives on jails.

Former DOC employee Allen Brinkman, who has consulted with Stevens County on its jail project, will also be at the meeting.

On April 13, the committee is tentatively scheduled to meet with the county's financial advisor, Carolyn Drude, of Ehlers and Associates. County Assessor Judy Thorstad is scheduled to provide information on property values, and county Auditor/Treasurer Neil Wiese will discuss property tax computation and the project's affect on various classifications of property.

Bad weather forced the commitee to postpone its March 30 meeting, during which members were scheduled to meet with a project architect from Klein McCarthy Architects, and Contegrity Group, which is the project manager.

The committee is expected to reschedule its meeting with KMA and Contegrity later this month.

The committee was formed last month to review the county's $15 million building project, which includes renovations of the existing courthouse and construction of a jail and law enforcement center.
