On Friday, December 13, the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls basketball team went on the road to Montevideo to tip off against the evenly matched Thunderhawks in a conference game.

The game was intense back and forth throughout. The Tigers went into halftime trailing 22-17.

The Tigers came out with gusto in the second half and got back the lead 42-37. Montevideo didn’t stop pressuring the Tigers as Jessie Janisch roared back, scoring eight points for the Thunderhawks. After two missed Tiger free threes, Thunderhawk Ashley Hoehne put up and sank a buzzer beater at the top of the key to tie the score at 44, sending the game into overtime.

In the extra session, the Thunderhawks combined to cash seven of eight free throws to outscore the Tigers 11-5 in the extra session.

Nicole Erickson’s three-point play put Montevideo up 47-44 to start OT.

Hoehne, a 5-9 forward whose buzzer-beating three came on her only attempt, finished with 21 points.

Beth Holland also scored 21 points to lead the Tigers. Lauren Reimers ended the game with 10 points and seven steals in the loss to Montevideo.

The Tigers JV played their best game all around of the season against Montevideo and remain undefeated with a 4-0 after a 56-22 win over the Thunderhawks. Ten out of 14 players got points on the board in the Tiger victory.

The Tigers will now travel to Melrose on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Tigers will be back at home hosting Litchfield and Paynesville on Thursday, Dec 19 and Friday, Dec. 20, respectively.
