Cardinals calm the Storm

The Morris Benson Area Storm boys hockey team traveled to Willmar Tuesday, Nov. 26. The Storm took their first loss of the season, losing to the Cardinals 8-1.
The Storm had a game total of 14 shots on net against Willmar defense. Willmar offense was dominate and ended the game with a 54-14 shot advantage.
The Cardinals would get on the board late in the first quarter with a goal by Cole Block, assisted by Trey Tollefson. The first quarter ended with the Storm trailing 1-0.
Thirty seconds into the second quarter, Block sends another puck past Storm goalie Kyle Kennedy. A shorthanded Cardinal goal by Evan VanDenEinde from Ryan Woltjer put the Cards up 3-0. The Storm answered with their lone goal of the night as Corey Goff scored on a power play goal at 3:37 into the second to put the Storm on the board 3-1. Two more scores by the Cardinals ended the second period with the Storm trailing behind 5-1.
The Cardinals would put three more points on the board in the third, securing their victory over the Storm 8-1.
Storm goalie Kyle Kennedy ended the game with a save percentage of 85.2 between the pipes with 46 saves.
MBA Storm next game is in Little Falls Dec. 3 at 7:15 p.m. Both the boys and girls hockey team face-off at home against Windom Area on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Benson. The girls play at 1 p.m. and the boys to follow 3 p.m.
