Carmen S. Rodriguez, age 83, of Monticello passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
She was born on July 16, 1926 in San Salvador, El Salvador, the daughter of Salvador Sanchez Cisneros and Teresa Rodriguez. She grew up and attended school in San Salvador. She met Edwin Huber in San Salvador and this union was blessed with two sons. She spent her time caring for her sons and working closely with her mother as a cook.
Carmen remained in El Salvador until her mother passed away. In 1990 she came to the United States to be close to her sons and their families. She resided with Heraldo and his family in Monticello. Her final years were spent with caregivers Sue and Leonard Archuleta. She enjoyed nature, crocheting, embroidery, music and spending time with her family. She was lovingly known to her family as Abuelita, precious grandmother.
Carmen is survived by her sons: Heraldo (wife Janice) Rodriguez of Monticello and Francisco Huber Rodriguez of Sauk Rapids; daughter in law: Emilie Huber Rodriguez; nine grandchildren: Chris (Tracy) Rodriguez, John Huber Rodriguez, Caroline (Mike) Frey, Carmen Rodriguez, Elizabeth Huber Rodriguez, James Huber Rodriguez, Elena Rodriguez, Evelyn Huber Rodriguez and Phillip Huber Rodriguez; three great grandchildren: Isabella Rodriguez, Ava Frey and Brooke Frey; brothers: Salvador Rodriguez and Napoleon Rodriguez both of Mexico; a host of other relatives and friends.
Carmen was preceded in death by Edwin Huber; her granddaughter: Anna Huber Rodriguez; her parents: Teresa and Salvador; and other brothers.
Funeral services for Carmen Rodriguez will be held at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Monticello on Friday Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. Interment will be at St. Pauli Cemetery in Swift Falls. on Friday Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. A visitation will be held at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Aug. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Further visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Aug. 21 one hour prior to service.
Casket bearers will be Carmen's grandsons: Christopher, John, James, Phillip and Mike Frey. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters: Caroline, Carmen, Elizabeth, Elena and Evelyn.
