Chippewa team gets first loss

On July 6 Buddies traveled to Starbuck and lost to Minnewaska by the score of 10-3.
Buddies took a 2-0 lead in the first when Anthony Koehl led off with a single and Justin Miller doubled to put two runners on. Collin Brown hit an infield single to load the bases. Following two strike outs, Brett Kellner singled to drive in two runs.
Minnewaska took the lead in the bottom of the first with four runs to make the score 4-2. They added two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 10-2 lead.
Buddies added the final run of the game in the seventh inning when, with one out, Brendan Jensen singled and scored on a double by Brett Kellner.
Buddies had 11 hits in the game with Brett Kellner going 2-3 with all 3 RBIs. Minnewaska walked no batters and made many fine defensive plays to limit Buddies scoring.
Benson Fire Department
On July 13, Buddies played Benson Fire Department and lost by the score of 10-2.
Benson scored two runs in the first and one in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.
Buddies scored two runs in the third to cut the lead to 3-2. Justin Miller led off with a single and scored on a triple by Collin Brown. Following a strike out, Brett Kellner walked. Brandon Shaw then singled to drive in Collin. Benson added three runs in the first, two in the sixth, and two in the seventh to make the score 10-2.
Pitching duties for Buddies were split between three players. Collin Brown pitched the first three innings. He gave up two runs on three hits, walked three and struck out eight. Justin Miller pitched the next two innings. He gave up four runs on five hits, walked two and struck out three. Brandon Shaw pitched the final two innings giving up four runs on five hits, walked one, hit a batter and struck out four.
Buddies next game is July 20 in Hancock.
