Chokio man escapes serious injury in accident
BENSON -- A motorist airlifted from the scene of a one-vehicle accident in Benson on Friday morning is reported to good condition at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Jason Samuel Devita, 38, of Chokio, suffered some broken bones but no life-threatening injuries in the accident, the Minnesota State Patrol in St. Cloud reported.
Devita was driving a 2002 Ford Super Duty pickup and was south bound on Highway 9 and had just entered the city limits when he crossed into the northbound lane, hit the curb and guardrail and apparently over corrected. The vehicle went across the highway, jumped the curb, went through a grass area and struck a tree, flipping over, according to the accident report.
Emergency responders extricated Devita from the vehicle and he was airlifted from the scene. It was determined on arrival at the St. Cloud Hospital that the injuries were not life-threatening, according to the State Patrol report.
