CLARENCE DON SCHMIDGALL
Funeral services for Clarence Don Schmidgall of Morris were held Monday, January 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. The Apostolic Christian Church Ministers officiated. Visitation was held Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Clarence Don Schmidgall, son of Henry and Emma (Koehl) Schmidgall, was born April 23, 1928 at the family home in Hancock, MN. He attended the Hancock Public School. On January 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Virginia Richards of Hancock. On January 25, 1951, Don was inducted into the United States Army. He served in Germany installing pontoon bridges on the Rhyme River. He was discharged from the service on January 23, 1953.
After his discharge, Don began his trucking career, when he purchased his first truck. He hauled pipe for Hancock Concrete until he sold his truck to Hancock Concrete and became an employee of Concrete. He retired at age 76.
Don was baptized on September 7, 1969 and was an active member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He also served 41 years on the Hancock Fire Department. Don enjoyed ice fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
Don passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at West Wind Village in Morris. He lived to reach the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia Schmidgall of Morris; three sons: Mike (Diane) Schmidgall of Morris, Mark (Karla) Schmidgall of Crystal and Ted (Kim) Schmidgall of Hancock; two daughters: Jayne Schmidgall (her husband: Scott Meemken) of St. Cloud and Tami Schmidgall of St. Cloud; four brothers: Wayne (Dorothy) Schmidgall of Morris, Hartzel Schmidgall of Mediapolis, IA, Gilbert (Barb) Schmidgall of Morris and Gene (Dorothy) Schmidgall of Morris; three sisters: Gladys Messner of Morris, Stella Moser of Morris and Darlene Carlton of Bonnie Lake, WA; sister-in-law: Corrine Schmidgall of Morris; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Francis Schmidgall and Richard Schmidgall; three brothers-in-law, Frank Messner, Cal Moser and Gary Carlton and two sisters-in-law, Marion Schmidgall and Mabel Schmidgall.
