The University of Minnesota, Morris women's tennis is back in the UMAC tournament after going 2-0 this past weekend. The Cougars are on a five match winning streak after taking care of North Central 9-0 and Martin Luther 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.


Abby Fragodt, Kayla Kraemer, Kayla Hegna and Christina Mollan were all undefeated in their four respective matches on Saturday to lead the lady Cougars to victory.

Men's tennis is fighting for a spot in the UMAC tournament and could get some much needed help with one more victory this season. The team was 2-0 last Saturday, beating North Central 5-3 and beating Martin Luther 5-4. As of Sunday, the Cougar men have now won three straight matches.

Dakota Frazier and Michael Maudal were both 4-0 on the day, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and the No. 1 doubles spot.

Calvin Cicha was 2-0 at No. 5 singles, beating Martin Luther’s Philip Schroeder in a close three set match.

Kevin Cunningham got the fifth point for the Cougars at No. 6 singles over Martin Luther. Against North Central, Cunningham and Erik Vergiels won at No. 3 doubles for the fifth point deciding match win.

The men and women are in Virginia Monday night against St. Scholastica and will play host Northwestern on Tuesday, April 29 for their final match before UMAC semifinals on Friday, May 2.
