Cougar runner earns scholar-athlete award
Cougar runner Linda Keller of Paynesville, who virtually rewrote the University of Minnesota, Morris record book in her first season, has earned a scholar-athlete award from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for her excellence on the course and in the classroom.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 35 among the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
Keller, who won the UMAC championships last month and finished eighth in the NCAA regional meet in Grinnell, Iowa, was UMM's first runner to qualify for the Division III national meet.
