Cougar tennis served up UMAC opener

The University of Minnesota, Morris tennis teams opened up UMAC play yesterday taking on Northwestern and Bethany Lutheran in Lakeville. The women's team was beat 9-0 by the Eagles, but responded with a 9-0 win over the Vikings. The men's team fell 9-0 to Northwestern and 7-2 to Bethany Lutheran.
The women could not overcome the Eagles power in the first match of the day as no player was able to take a set. They did a great job regrouping for a 9-0 win in their second match of the day against the Eagles.
After being blanked by the Eagles, Michael Maudal picked up a win in his singles match against the Bethany Lutheran Vikings. He and teammate Dakota Frazier, won their doubles match in a tie breaker to give the Cougars two points in the 7-2 loss.
The two teams will be back in action today (Sunday, April 6) at 1:30 p.m. against St. Scholastica. It will be the first home match of the season.
The postponed match with North Central is scheduled to be played on April 26 as part of a doubleheader with Martin Luther.
