Cougar women down North Central in non-conference action
The University of Minnesota, Morris women's basketball team played its final non-conference game Tuesday, Feb. 16, and posted an 86-47 win over North Central in Minneapolis.
All 13 Cougars played 13 minutes or more, and four reached double digits.
The Cougar women jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, building a 22-point margin by halftime.
In the second half, UMM continued to roll but pulled back the defensive pressure, employing a 2-3 for the final 15 minutes of the game. North Central was unable to capitalize on this change, going 0-18 on three-point shots.
Grove was understatedly pleased with the performance.
"In a game like this, when you do get out in front, you want to limit mistakes, execute well and play as clean a game as possible," Grove said. "And we were fortunate to do that tonight."
The Cougars had a 45-27 rebounding advantage for the night. Kara Norris had a team-high 13 points, Nikki Washek had 11, and Jenni Noordmans chipped in 10. Steph Roggenbuck scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds
