The University of Minnesota, Morris women's basketball team traveled to Jamestown Tuesday where a tough second half led to a 73-34 loss for the Cougars.
Emily Mehr put up 19 points and was 7-of-8 from the foul line, but the Cougars were outscored 39-10 in the second half. The Cougars shot 16.1 in the game and were just 1-of-28 in the second half.
Kendra Wycoff added seven points and Emily Auch led the way off the bench with four points.
The Jimmies not only controlled the game by holding the Cougar shooters at bay, but shot 49.1 percent from the field. Jamestown shot 11-of-17 from the three point line.
The Cougars battled toe to toe with the Jimmies in the first 10 minutes, trailing by six after a three pointer by Mehr with 10:14 left in the first half. After the Jimmies took a nine-point lead at 22-13, the Cougars again battled back cutting it to a two-possession game at 22-17 with 4:36 left in the half. Jamestown attempted to pull away late in the half taking a 10-point lead into the break.
Jamestown opened the second half on a 9-0 run opening their lead to 41-24. The Cougars went the first 9:36 without making a shot from the field as the Jimmies built up a 27-point lead. The lead got as large as 41 as the Cougars failed to make a shot from the field in the final 10-plus minutes of the second half
