Cougars dominate paint in victory

The University of Minnesota, Morris (14-8, 8-3 UMAC) men's basketball started the weekend with a big 75-48 win over Northland (4-18, 1-10 UMAC) on Friday night. John Haseman led the team with a career high 13 points coming off the bench. Three other Cougars finished in double figures.
The Cougars dominated the paint on Friday night, outscoring Northland 44-18 in the lane. The bench poured in 28 points on the evening.
Morris quickly jumped out to a five point lead but the Lumberjacks quickly erased that lead tying the game nine. Leading by just one at 13-12 with 12:19 left in the half, UMM went on a 13-4 and held a ten point lead with just under seven minutes left in the half. Minnesota Morris led by as much as 12 in the first half and took a 38-26 lead into the half.
Northland was unable to make a run in the second half and Morris pulled away. The Cougars were able to increase their lead to as much as 28 late in the second half as they ran away with a road victory.
