Cougars No. 2 in UMAC Tournament

The University of Minnesota, Morris had a busy weekend, starting with a sweep of Crown College on Friday. The softball team kept rolling and clinched the No. 2 spot in the UMAC tournament thanks to finishing the season on a nine game winning streak with a sweep of Bethany Lutheran on Saturday. The Cougars will be the two seed in the tournament this Friday and Saturday, May 2-3 in Duluth.
UM-Morris 11, Bethany Lutheran 1 On Saturday, April 26, the Cougars beat Bethany Lutheran with ease in the first game, not allowing Bethany on the board until the fifth inning on an unearned run. The Cougars finished off the win 11-1.
Weatherly got the win allowing five hits and one unearned run cross the plate in six innings pitched. Weatherly had four strikeouts and is now 13-9 on the mound for the Cougars.
UM-Morris 4, Bethany Lutheran 1 Game two was slightly slower paced, but the Cougars swept the Vikings 4-1 to cap off the regular season in style.
Both Olson and Hanson extended their hitting streak to 24 and 20 games, respectively. Downie is on a current nine game hitting streak after the wins over BLC.
Hanson also took the W on the mound for Cougars going five innings, while Weatherly came in for the save, pitching the final two, allowing one hit and striking out two batters.
