The University of Minnesota, Morris men's soccer team recorded shut outs 10 and 11 over the weekend, assuring the Cougars at least one post-season game at home.
The victories give the Cougars 33 points in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference standings, mathematically out of reach of the third- and fourth-place teams.
The two shutouts over the weekend improve the Cougars' already stellar rankings on the national stage. Last week they were ranked seventh in shut-out percentage and eighth in goals against average.
Senior Kelsey Duerr figures to be ranked among top scorers when the next set of NCAA statistics is released later this week. He currently leads the UMAC in scoring with 28 points, followed by Brent Diggs and Patrick O'Connor with 22 points apiece, and junior Mattson Towley with 19 points.
