Cougars split home triangular
The University of Minnesota, Morris split its home volleyball triangular Wednesday with two non-conference matches. The Cougars opened the day's play with a 3-0 loss to the University of Sioux Falls, but bounced back to close the night with a 3-0 win over North Central University.
The Cougar volleyball team travels to Menomonie, Wisc. this weekend for the UW-Stout tournament.
The Cougars came out flat against Sioux Falls dropping all three games by scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-15. It was Sioux Falls' 11th match this season and only the Cougars's second.
Cougar captains Alison Pippo and Briana Czer led the team with nine and eight kills, respectively. Casey Stott recorded five kills.
Colleen Hermes led the Cougars with 10 digs, while Natalie Thomas added nine.
Sam Pfannenstein recorded 22 set assists.
North Central 0
The Cougars swept North Central with scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-16. The win improves the Cougars' season to 2-1. It was North Central's ninth loss of the season.
Czer led the Cougars with nine kills. Shannon Bosek recorded eight.
Czer also led the team with 13 digs. Stott and Pfannenstein had nine apiece.
Pfannenstein also recorded 16 set assists.
