Cougars split in UMAC volleyball
The University of Minnesota, Morris split a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball matches, falling to Northwestern in four and defeating Crown in three games.
The Cougars dropped another UMAC contest, while Northwestern maintained a perfect conference record, Thursday in St. Paul.
After dropping the first game 25-12, the Cougars bounced back to win the second game 25-23. However, Northwestern dominated in the next two games to win 25-13 and 25-9.
Three Cougars, Casey Stott, Brian Czer, and Alison Pippo, paced UMM with six kills apiece.
Sam Pfannenstien led the Cougars with 22 set assists, along with 11 digs.
Colleen Hermes led in the dig column with 19. Czer added 13 digs for the Cougars.
Shannon Bosek recorded two ace blocks.
The Cougars picked up their first conference win Friday at St. Bonifacius by scores of 25-16, 25-8, and 25-21.
Kacy Aasen helped the Cougars with eight ace serves.
Stott led in kills with nine, while Czer recorded eight.
Again, Hermes led in digs with nine.
Pippo, Bosek, and Lacey Albers had two ace blocks apiece.
Pfannenstein had 28 set assists.
