The channel is called "Alexandria Community Television," or ACT.

The mutual goal of the partnership is to improve communication with the broader community regarding city government and school district related matters, according to city and school leaders.

Programming for Channel 7 will occur weeknight evenings, Monday through Friday.

Programming on Thursdays each week will be dedicated to government programming.

The Alexandria City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month. The meetings will be recorded and played each Thursday at 7 p.m. following a city council meeting.

Programming on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday will feature rebroadcasts of District 206 student news, concerts, fine arts performances and athletic competitions, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
