County Republican convention Friday

The annual Stevens County Republican Convention is Friday, March 27, 2009, starting at 7 p.m. at the Morris American Legion, 507 Pacific Avenue. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.

District 11 Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen and District 11A Rep. Torrey Westrom have been confirmed as featured speakers at the convention. They will provide an update on the current legislative session.

Those delegates and alternates elected at the 2008 precinct caucuses are the voting members of the convention. Official business includes:

• Election of officers, including co-chairs, two vice-chairs, a secretary, and a treasurer;

• Election of one delegate and three alternates to the State Central Committee; and

• Transactions, such other business as may properly come before the convention.

To find out more about the political process and current issues, Stevens County Republican Co-Chairs James Stock and Dan Pagel invite the public to observe the convention and meet their legislators.
