At least 16 teams are expected for the first legal day of competition running, including most of the Tigers' conference rivals. It will be the Tigers' only home meet this season. This year's conference meet will be at Montevideo on Oct. 19 and New London-Spicer hosts the Section meet on Oct. 28.

The boys' team grew by one runner from the 2009 season, despite losing six seniors. The team will miss Stefan Lemke, Mitch Carbert, Nate Fangmeier, Steve Sarlette, Austin Schieler, and Alex Sinclair.

The 2010 captains, seniors Dan Tiernan, Matt Cotter, and Steven Jungst, will lead the team of 20 boys.

The girls' team doubled in size, from six to 12 members, with all of last season's runners returning.

Seniors Sarah Kuhn and Monserrat Mendez will serve as captains again this year.

"Everybody's coming back one year older and one year stronger," said coach Dale Henrich. "We've got good, quality runners. They're all running competitively."

Henrich said the team has a few goals in mind for the 2010 season. The Tigers hope to win the Ortonville meet for the third straight year and are looking forward to moving up in placement at the Milaca meet.

Today's race begins at 5:30 p.m. with the junior high runners. Spectators are encouraged to come out the the golf course and enjoy the outdoors. Henrich reminds you to watch for the running path and try not to get in front of them.
