Third and Fourth Grade News:
The third and fourth grade students have been investigating magnetism and electricity in science. During the past month, they have learned about circuits, motors and electromagnets.
Now, they get to use their knowledge of electricity and electromagnets to reinvent the telegraph, just like Samuel Morse. First, they will have to remember what they learned about circuitry and electromagnetism to build a telegraph. Then, they will invent a code and use the telegraphs to send messages to each other. The two-way communication will require two complete circuits. Finally, each student will make an electric quiz board that lights up for a correct answer. We will use their boards for a year-end review in science.
Next year's Pre/K students are invited to attend Kindergarten Connection starting Friday, April 29 through Friday, May 27. Class runs from 8 a.m. - noon and includes those students who will be four, five or six by Sept. 1, 2011. Cyrus Early Childhood Education sponsors this program and there are no fees. Kindergarten Connection will give students a glimpse of what school will be like in the fall. They will get an opportunity to meet their classmates, their teacher, and join in Pre/K activities. Families from the area are encouraged to join us. Please call 795-2217 for additional information.
Families who were unable to attend round-up night are encouraged to call the school for program information. Our preschool program runs each morning from 8: a.m. - 12:10 p.m. and is based on a sliding-fee scale. Our kindergarten students attend all-day, every day for no additional fees.
