Funeral services for Darrell Pillen, 66, of Chokio, Minnesota, will be held Saturday May 17, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio. Visitation one hour before the Mass at 10:30 AM.
Darrell died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Darrell Thomas Pillen was born June 22, 1947 to Daniel "Dan" and Dorothy (Bonner) Pillen, the fourth of four children. He was born at the Pillen farm site in Synnes township. He attended District 58 country school and Hancock school for the lower grades. Attended Alberta school also but graduated from Morris High School June 4, 1965. He was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Church of Morris. After graduation he attended the Minneapolis Drafting School for one year. Got a assisted Structural Engineering job at Cowin & Co. for a couple of years in New Brighton.
In 1968 Darrell and his brother Dallas started a sub contracting business in siding and windows in the Minneapolis area until 1986. He was married to Linda Mesenbrink at the Zion Lutheran Church on June 23, 1973 in Morris, MN. A year later on June 21, 1974 Wendy was born in Minneapolis area.
After being injured on the job; he went to college at the University of Minnesota Morris. Received a four year degree in Business Economics in the Spring of 1991. Darrell got a job at Honeywell Advance Circuit Inc. in Roseville, MN and worked there for ten years. He moved back to the Chokio in December 2007.
His hobbies and interests were computers, wildlife photography, geology and sports. He really enjoyed attending family picnics.
Darrell Pillen is survived by a daughter:Wendy (Mrs. Roger) Witt of Little Falls; one sister: Delores (Mrs. Ted) Eul of Chokio; one brother: Dallas Pillen of Chokio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis.
