Detours begin Oct. 24 on Highway 55 in west central Minnesota

Motorists on Highway 55 between Highway 9 and Highway 59 will encounter a detour starting Wednesday, Oct. 24, as crews begin a culvert replacement project.

Local traffic will be allowed within the detour zone, but motorists will not be allowed through the construction sites.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 24, Highway 55 traffic will detour between Highway 59 and Highway 9.

Detour route:

Westbound traffic on Highway 55 will detour on Highway 59 north of Elbow Lake for five miles, then west on Otter Tail County Road 26 and Wilkin County Road 4 for 26 miles, and south on Highway 9 for five miles. Eastbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse. The detour is expected to last up to two weeks.
