Detroit Lakes Cinema 5 goes out of business -- leaves DL without a movie theater

Detroit Lakes is without a movie theater.

The Cinema 5 in the Washington Square Mall has gone out of business.

Cinema 5 owner Steven Payne notified the Detroit Lakes Police Department that the theater was going out of business and that some items would be removed from the space on Sunday.

The theater was affiliated with Evergreen Entertainment, which has closed movie theaters in other cities as well, including Westridge Cinema 5 in Fergus Falls, which closed in January when its lease at the Westridge Mall expired.
