Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

In the past week, Minnesota has been the land of 10,000 different weather patterns as we have had sunny, mild, rain, sleet, hail, snow, stormy weather and even reports of tornadoes.

In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: Lenten services will conclude on April 9 at Kongsvinger with coffee fellowship to follow. There will be joint services on April 13 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s; on April 17 at  St. John’s and April 18 at Kongsvinger both at 7 p.m.

The St. John’s Spring Fling is April 12.  Contact Joan Kopacek at 246-3381 for details.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church:  Lenten services will conclude on April 9 at 7 p.m. Confirmation services will be on April 13 and there will be services at 7 p.m. on April 17 and 18.

There will be a celebration in honor of Gary Weers’ 75th birthday. on Sunday, April 6 following services, provided by his daughter Irene Maloney.

The Glacial Ridge conference of the WELCA will be held on April 8 at at 4:30 p.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church, in  Glenwood.

A community hymn sing will be held on April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church.

The This and That  sale will be held at Federated Church in Morris on April 12 from 9 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

The second annual Sgt. Kurt Kruize Foundation Dinner will be held today (Saturday) from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Hancock Community Center.  

Someplace Safe of Stevens County is having all you can eat Belgian waffle brunch on April 6 at Old No. 1 Southside in  Morris from 9 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

The Red Hatters will meet on April 7 at 9 a.m. at the Herman Bar and Grill.  

The bookmobile will be in Donnelly on April 7 at 3:30 p.m. at HD & Co.

The Rendsville 4-H and the Donnelly city council will meet on April 7 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall and community hall.

The Donnelly community club will meet on April 14 at 7 p.m. at the community hall.

There will be an open house bridal shower honoring Brandi Sperr, bride to be of Justin Johnston, today (Saturday) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Federated Church in Morris.

Muriel Cardwell announces that after 25 years her business MC Cutters will be closing on April 17 due to issues with carpal tunnel syndrome.

The Donnelly fire department annual fish fry at the Donnelly hall will be held on April 11.  Serving starts at 4:30 p.m.

There will be an open house bridal shower for Lauren Nelson and Bill Combellick on Saturday April 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Morris Senior Center.

Kinsley Jo Whittemore was born on March 13 to Erik and Melissa Whittemore of Donnelly. Grandparents are Dave and Julie Whittemore of Donnelly, and Kelly and Paula Zimmerman of Chokio

Vernon Jesse Griffith of Texas and Morris, Minn., died March 9. Survivors include his wife former Donnelly area resident Elaine (Hatlestad) Loher.

Former Donnelly area resident Claudia Whilite passed away on April 1. Her funeral is today (Saturday)in Hoffman. Survivors include her niece, Joyce (Alan) Olson of Donnelly.  

Savannah Aanerud was named Most Valuable Gymnast at the Tiger sports banquet held recently.  She and Kourtney Geise were named to the West Central all conference team.

Beth Holland was named all area team -honorable mention from the West Central Tribune.

Former Donnelly resident Karenna Johnson won an award for her science fair project at the Springfield,  Minn., elementary school.

Over the past week, I attended the seminar and sale at Wulf Farms traveled to Willmar for Seventh district Republican convention, then visited with some relatives in the area, went to see the Christy play in Glenwood, and helped Jim and Lou Eystad with NAPS distribution in Morris.
