Welcome to the Donnelly news.

It has been sunny and mild most of the last week.  However some places, including the Morris public library, received water damage due to some localized heavy rains over the weekend.  Crop progress ranges from untouched fields to crops already being up.


In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at Kongsvinger on June 8, 15 and 22 at 9 a.m., followed by Bible study during coffee hour.

There will be a community Bible school on June 23-26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, co-sponsored by Zion and Good Shepherd. Everyone is welcome.

The All-State Lutheran choir will be on tour starting June 14. They will be in Elbow Lake and Alexandria on June 15.   

There will be an ice cream social on June 9, at 7 p.m. at the Donnelly Hall sponsored by Donnelly Community Club.  Rendsville 4-H will be selling pies.  The Community Club meeting will follow at about 8:30 p.m.

The next community mentoring program is June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Morris Area Elementary cafeteria.

Jenna Gibson graduated from Albany High School on May 23.  Her grandparents Dorothy and Sam Jordheim were among the family members who attended the event.

There will be no Little League games in Donnelly this year.  However there will be women’s softball and horseshoe games.

There area two bridal showers at Kongsvinger.  The first is for Laura Wolff, bride to be of Brain Ennen, which will be held on June 21 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  Also, a post-nuptial open house for Hannah Hilton, bride  of David Larson on June 29 from 2-4 p.m.  Hannah and David are being married today (Saturday).

Have a few more graduates along with clarifications:

Shaylyn Johnson graduated from Morris Area High School.  Her  parents are Kevin and Shelly.  Her grandparents are Cliff and Betty Johnson.

Tim Uphoff graduated from Morris Area High School.  His mother is Sue, grandparents are Gary and Karen, and great grandmother is Evelyn Underwood.

Kody Armstrong graduated from West Central Area High School.  His  parents are Jason and Niki,  his grandmother is Judy Armstrong.

Braeden Long also graduated from West Central Area High School.  His  parents are Clyde and Brenda and grandmother is Virginia Long.

Jacob Long graduated from Concordia College of Moorhead.  His  parents are Sherman and Sherry and his grandmother is Virginia.

Donnelly area kids receiving scholarships include: Beth Holland, Corey Stork, Bryce Jergenson, Carly Gullickson, Shaylyn Johnson, Justine Huebner, Melanie Van Horn.

There were several memorial scholarships given by people with Donnelly connections.  

David Day scholarship winners were Chelsey Ehlringer and Paige Loew.

Thora (Larson) and William Colley memorial scholarship winners were Kjersa Anderson, Chelsey Ehlringer, Paige Loew, and Chase Mohrman.

Curtis Van Horn winner was Chelsey Ehlringer.

Walker Ernest Koehl was born on May 15 to Lucas and Tracy Koehl of Morris. His great-great grandmother Millie LeSage was the first Donnelly news correspondent eons ago.

The Tiger girls’ track team finished seventh at the section meet. Beth Holland, Kourtney Geise, Rebecca and Savannah Aanerud all finished in the top 15 in their events either individually or as members of a relay team.  

Tiger sports teams are finished for the year it has been enjoyable covering them again this year.
